Dr Ma has a Ph.D.in Organic Chemistry from the Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, China. He did a post-doc. at University of Pittsburgh and Mayo Clinic, U.S.A. Now he is the director of State Key Laboratory of Bioorganic Chemistry, Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry. His main research interest is : Total synthesis and SAR studies of complex natural products with interesting biological activates. Design, synthesis, and biological evaluation of selective modulators targeted GPCRs, kinases, proteases and apoptosis pathway. Development of new synthetic methodologies and their applications to synthesis of biologically and pharmaceutically important molecules. He has been awarded Outstanding Young Scholar, Qiushi Science and Technology,  Top Ten Outstanding Youth of Shanghai City, National Natural Science Award, Second Class and so on..
